Leadership

The Theta Xi Educational Foundation of Pittsburgh is a 501(C)(3) Non-Profit Organization under the leadership of thirty alumni volunteers committed to supporting the educational needs of students in Western Pennsylvania and the surrounding community.


Executive Board Members









Ronald Shidemantle, Beta Upsilon 173 - President/Chairman
Brother Shidemantle is a past Chapter President at Slippery Rock University, and currently serves as a member of the Grand Lodge of Theta Xi National Fraternity. Ron served for many years as the Allegheny Regional Director where he received five Regional Director of the Year Awards. Ron is a staff member at Robert Morris University, where he manages the Residence Life and Greek Affairs programs.
Tom Kijowski, Kappa Gamma 184 - Vice-President
Brother Kijowski is a past Kappa Gamma Chapter Executive Officer and currently serves as President of the Kappa Gamma (Fairmont State University) Theta Xi Alumni Association. Tom is the owner of the Thomas Kijowski Investment Consulting Group and is a resident of Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
Dr. John Shepherd, Pi 779 - Treasurer
Brother Shepherd is a past Pi Chapter Executive Officer, has a long record of service on the Theta Xi Foundation of Pittsburgh, and serves as Treasurer of the Theta Xi Club of Pittsburgh. Dr. Shepherd currently serves as Associate Professor and Chairman of the Journalism and Multimedia Arts Department at Duquesne University, and resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Michael Liptak, Kappa Alpha 183 - Secretary
Brother Liptak is a past Kappa Alpha Chapter Executive Officer and current member of the Alumni Association. Mike is a Registered Representative with Securities America, Inc. Brother Liptak currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Kevin Bussey, Beta Omicron 317 - Executive Officer
Brother Bussey is a past Chapter President & current President of the Beta Omicron Alumni Association Advisory Board. Kevin is a member of the Management Team at Allied Barton Security Company. Brother Bussey currently resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Vito Cedro III, Pi 795 - Executive Officer
Brother Cedro is a past Pi Chapter President, who has been a Chapter Representative on the CMU Greek Council, a long-time member of the Theta Xi Educational Foundation of Pittsburgh Board of Directors, and in that capacity is currently serving as the Pi Endowment Fund Advisor for the Pi Chapter Trust held at CMU. Vito is the past Vice President of Engineering of Alcoa World Alumina, Atlantic Division, and is a resident of Export, Pennsylvania.
Vito Cedro IV, Beta Omicron 446 - Executive Officer
Brother Cedro is a past Beta Omicron Executive Officer, and member of the Beta Omicron Alumni Association. Vito is a Senior Associate of Solenture Inc., and Chief Compliance Officer and Investment Advisory Representative of Solenture Advisors LLC. Vito currently resides in Ross Township, Pennsylvania.
Walter MacFann, Beta Sigma 332 - Executive Officer
Brother MacFann is past Executive Officer of the Beta Sigma Chapter. An active Board Member of the Beta Sigma Alumni Advisory Board, Brother MacFann lives near the Chapter house and is a long standing volunteer of the Chapter. Walt is the Director of Real Estate Investments for the Allegheny County Housing Authority.
Larry Sebek, Beta Sigma 315 - Executive Officer
Brother Sebek is a past Chapter Executive Officer of our Beta Sigma Chapter at California University of Pennsylvania, the current alumni advisor and volunteer for the Chapter. Larry is the Dean for Student Services at California University and is a resident of Monessen, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Jesse W. Whitlow, Pi 771 - Executive Officer
Brother Whitlow is a long and dedicated alumni volunteer of the fraternity, having served for many years as the Pi Chapter Advisor, past President of the Theta Xi Club of Pittsburgh, and long-time member of the Theta Xi Educational Foundation of Pittsburgh Board of Directors. Jesse is a past Fellow Engineer at Bechtel Bettis, Incorporated and is a resident of South Park Township, Pennsylvania.

Emeritus Members

Otto Richter
Brother Richter was a Founding Father of Pi Chapter, and is responsible for making the original bequest of funds that established the Educational Foundation. A self made millionaire, Brother Richter was a life-long loyal Theta Xi who gave countless hours and service to the betterment of his beloved Theta Xi Fraternity.
 

Elmer B. Kaelin
Brother Kaelin served with outstanding and infamous distinction for much of the history of the Foundation in top leadership roles, and was instrumental in establishing numerous Chapters throughout the Allegheny District of Theta Xi. Brother Kaelin was granted membership in the Order of the Unicorn, Theta Xi’s highest honor, in 1995. Elmer was without question, one of the most loyal and dedicated of Brothers the Allegheny District has ever produced.

L. Philo Maier
Brother Maier served for many years as an active alumni leader in the Allegheny Region, and was instrumental in the establishment of our Educational Foundation. Brother Maier was selected as the first ever Director Emeritus for his service and positive impact on behalf of countless generations of undergraduate and alumni members in the District.

Adrian Medert
Brother Medert served as Foundation President for many years, particularly in the early development of the Educational Foundation. An outstanding legal mind, Brother Medert was instrumental in many projects and programs that provided for outstanding living and learning Theta Xi residential communities throughout the 1960’s & 1970’s.
